By Jim Dean, January 21, 2016

As huge fans of Jon Mayhew’s – we loved the Mortlock trilogy and his current Monster Odyssey series is superb – we’re delighted to have him doing 5-4-3-2-1 today!

5 books you’d save from a burning bookcase:

Holes by Louis Sachar
A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens
Rip Van Winkle illustrated by Arthur Rackham
Moominland Midwinter by Tove Jansson
The Hobbit by JRR Tolkein

4 pieces of advice you’d give yourself if you could travel back in time to before you became a published author

A) Don’t rush! Take your time and enjoy the writing.
B) Remember you can’t please everyone all of the time!
C) You can’t be in three places at once, so don’t try.
D) If you really love an idea, stick with it, don’t be talked out of it.

3 places you love to read:

On the train
In my armchair by the stove
In the garden on a hot sunny day.

2 songs that sum up the last novel you wrote perfectly:

The theme to The Crimson Pirate and Scheherazade by Rimsky Korsakov

1 relationship you love reading about:
I love parent/child relationships. There’s always a point when the adults in your life show that they’re human or fallible, it’s a right of passage.
